During World War II, the American Theatre Wing ran New York's Stage Door Canteen
for the benefit of soldiers on leave. It was frequented by many stars, some of
whom graciously performed menial tasks, while others entertained the crowd.
Dozens of those celebrities appear as themselves in this lavish musical about
romances that blossom between canteen employees and soldiers. Tunes include "We
Mustn't Say Goodbye", "Bombshell from Brooklyn", "The Lord's Prayer", "Ave
Maria", and "Flight of the Bumble Bee".
Dozens of important Hollywood stars make appearances in this wartime musical
with the bands of Benny Goodman, Guy Lombardo, Count Basie and Freddy Martin.
The story is about three soldiers who meet three girls before going overseas.

Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis had their first star billing in this hilarious
song and gag-filled comedy. The comic couple play Puccinelli and Korwin -- pals
who join the army and get into a load of trouble on a military training base.
While Puccinelli becomes a first sergeant, his buddy can't rise above the status
of private because of his constant bumbling.
